Stelae I
Stelae I
Stelae I is a sculptural work inspired by pre-Hispanic stelae: vertical stone monuments traditionally associated with ceremonial and symbolic spaces.
This piece is number 1 of a series of 5 distinct designs developed as a contemporary interpretation of the stela as an architectural and sculptural element.
The complete group of five stelae was also executed in concrete and installed at the Legislative Palace of San Lázaro in Mexico City, establishing a dialogue between pre-Hispanic references, contemporary geometry, and civic architecture.
The form emphasizes verticality, mass, proportion, and the tactile presence of stone, translating an ancestral typology into a contemporary sculptural language.
Material: Sandstone.
